Culture and sports events

Megève is not only famous for hosting major sporting competitions such as the Freestyle Skicross World Cup, the MB Race (the world’s toughest mountain bike race) and the famous Jumping International. It is also a worthy representative of alpine culture in its broadest sense: its religious, architectural, agricultural and artistic history.

Thus, you will be able to take advantage of numerous visits to farms, livestock farms and the famous carriage rides offered by the Megève coachmen. Dinner rides are offered, snacks at the farm or at the reindeer farm for example. The agricultural culture is omnipresent, close to nature and its majestic mountains.

In terms of religion and architecture, the village takes you through its paved streets in medieval style to discover its baroque churches, its chapels, going up to the site of the Calvary, an architectural masterpiece combining sculpture and painting.

The art of living in Megève also includes music. Every year, the Megève Jazz Festival is organised in the spring and the Megève Jazz Contest during the summer, with its New Orleans sound (https://megeve.com/fiche/tribute-to-megeve-jazz-contest).

Art in Megève is an integral part of the village with its numerous painting and sculpture galleries. Two museums are also open to you, two authentic and picturesque places retracing the history of the village, of the men and women, their life, their work…
